Updated June 5th: The falcons were not successful in nesting at Thacher Park. All climbing routes are now open.
Parks Biologists have found peregrine falcons at Thacher Park and a route closure is needed to ensure that they have a place to nest. Currently, the closure covers the North half of the climbing area – Sunset Wall through the East End. Climbing areas between the Cave Wall and the Reef/Haven are still open. The closure will be lifted on August 1st, although the date may change based on observations of the birds. The number of areas affected may shrink as specific nest locations are identified. Please respect the closure and spread the word to other climbers. Updates will be shared as soon as they are available!
