We have an exciting weekend coming up for Thacher Park! We plan on opening climbing for the season Saturday, March 30th, and then hosting a showing of Reel Rock 18 at Hudson Boulders that same day at 8:30 PM. Our first trail day will be two weeks later, on Sunday April 14th, starting at 9:00 AM. Read on for details!

For the season opening, the snow and ice concerns have been resolved – climbing will open on March 30th!

Please do take the time to complete the permit application, which can be found here. The application and permit are 100% free and take less than 2 minutes to complete. Last year, the permit was fully electronic – we plan to return to that system, but for now the permits will still be done with a paper form that is handled at the Visitor Center. Please visit during their regular business hours, 9 AM to 4 PM daily, to give them your permit application.

Remember to read and abide by the rules on your permit. In particular, it is important to the Coalition that you sign the trail register with each visit. The park uses data collected from this book to evaluate the popularity of the climbing area. Reach out to info@climbthacher.org with any questions. See you at the cliffs!

The Reel Rock 18 Showing will be on Saturday, March 30th at 8:30 PM. We’ll be hosting at the Hudson Boulders climbing gym in Latham. Tickets will be $15 for TCC members and $20 for non-members. Check out the trailer here and get excited! Tickets can be purchased at the door or in advance here. Please bring a chair of some sort – we’ll be setup in the gym area, watching the movie on a projector! HB will be selling snacks and refreshments. Note that there will be no climbing allowed at this time, as the gym closes at 8:00 PM on Saturdays.

Our first trail day of the season will be on Sunday, April 14th. Come by and help us improve the climbing trails. All are welcome! Event starts at 9. All participants will need to sign a waiver. Please bring water, a helmet, and appropriate work clothes.
